We came to Malaysia after ten years of building properties in Australia — and set out to bring that standard with us.

Silk Interior is a bespoke cabinetry and interior renovation studio in Kuala Lumpur, built on years of Australian construction experience. Seven trades are delivered by our own team from our Kajang studio and factory; four — glass, stone, wet works and curtains — come from vetted specialist partners. One project manager runs it all, from first measurement to final handover.

Story

Our Story

Silk Interior began with a decade of building in Australia — and a move to Malaysia that revealed a gap. The quality of work and the standard of service we found here didn't match what we were used to. So rather than settle, we started our own company to close that gap: renovation and cabinetry built to the standard we'd held for years in Australia, delivered in Kuala Lumpur.

In 2024, we opened our own cabinetry factory in Kajang. Where most firms here build from locally sourced materials, we import ours — because it lets us work with a higher grade of material and secure it at a better price, and we pass both the quality and the saving on to our clients. The finish you get is one most local firms can't match at the same cost.

That approach shapes everything. Our own team delivers seven trades; four specialist trades come from partners we've vetted. One project manager runs it all — so you get a single standard of finish and a single point of accountability, from first measurement to final handover.

Our approach

Our approach to craftsmanship and quality

We believe a good result comes from controlling the things most firms hand off:

  1. Better materialsWe import a higher grade of material than most locally sourced equivalents, and pass the quality — and the price value — on to our clients. It's a finish most local firms don't offer at the same level.
  2. Australian standardA decade of building in Australia set the bar for how we work: the finish, the fit and the attention to detail we hold every project to.
  3. One team, one drawing setOur design team sits with our makers, so every trade works from the same drawings. Problems are caught in the factory, not in your home.
  4. Vetted partners, managed by usThe four trades we don't do in-house — glass, stone, wet works, curtains — come from specialists we work with, coordinated under our project management.
  5. A single point of contactOne project manager runs the whole job and answers to you, from the first measurement to the day you move back in.

We don't claim to do everything ourselves. Glass, stone, wet works and curtains are delivered by vetted specialist partners — chosen and managed by us, held to the same standard as the work we build in-house.

Factory

Factory and production capabilities

Our Kajang factory is where imported, higher-grade materials become cabinetry made to order for each project — not assembled from stock modules — so a run fits a wall exactly, instead of finishing with a filler panel.

Because the people who build a kitchen are the people who install it, nothing is lost in a handoff between a supplier and a separate fitting crew. A measurement problem is found at the bench, not in your house. Better materials, made properly and fitted by the team that built them — that's what the factory gives you.
